The position of Associate Civil Engineer for the Herkimer County Highway Department has been updated. There is no longer a requirement that the appointee must live in Herkimer County. Please note: the application deadline is 9/11/20.


Associate Civil Engineer.

Herkimer County seeks applicants for this complex technical office and field engineering work in connection with highway construction and maintenance projects.

Candidates must possess thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering, good knowledge of modern methods of highway and bridge design and construction, ability to draw plans and specifications, make engineering computations and design public works projects, ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of others.

Minimum qualifications include: graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, surveying technology, or a related field and two years of experience in engineering work or graduation from high school and four years of experience in engineering work or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
