Job Description:

Summary: Forever Meadows Pet Memorialization & Cremation Services, operated by V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Part-Time Regional Pet Transport Driver. This role is responsible for providing respectful and dignified retrieval and transfer of deceased pets from partner veterinary accounts and private residences directly to our cremation facility in Frankfort, NY.

In addition to transportation, this position oversees vehicle cleanliness and care, ensures compliance with tracking protocols, and provides occasional office administrative assistance.

Schedule: Average 4 to 5 hours a day. Rotating weekend on-call schedule shared with another employee. Starting Wage: NYS minimum wage / negotiable, with increases based on merit as employment lengthens.

Transportation & Logistics: Respectfully retrieve deceased pets from veterinary hospitals, clinics, and private residences. Safely transfer pets to the Forever Meadows cremation facility while maintaining exact chain-of-custody protocols. Adhere strictly to tracking identification standards (including Secure Passages tracking disks) to guarantee proper handling. Drive safely over long distances and across varied terrain throughout the regional area. Operate company vehicles with complete confidence during inclement weather and severe winter road conditions. Vehicle Care & Maintenance: Keep all service vehicles clean, sanitized, and properly stocked with transport equipment. Conduct regular inspections of fluid levels, tire pressure, and basic safety equipment. Monitor vehicle service schedules and proactively report maintenance or repair needs. Administrative & Office Support Work independently and manage daily travel schedules without direct supervision. Assist with office duties when needed, including answering phone calls with warmth and empathy. Complete customer contracts, authorization forms, and service paperwork accurately. Experience with Windows PCs and POS handheld devices is highly preferred. During downtime, assist with errands and general sub-tasks. Position Requirements & Qualifications: Must hold a valid New York State driver's license with a clean, unblemished driving history. (CDL is not required but past experience is helpful). Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 pounds unassisted, and possess a full range of motion to effectively operate transport equipment, including stretchers, lifts, and tables. Must be available for weekend on-call rotations and occasional after-hours retrievals. This role is within the pet aftercare industry. Candidates must demonstrate high personal integrity, emotional maturity, and compassion, as the work involves handling deceased pets which can be physically challenging (e.g., strong odors, bodily fluids). Emphasis on soft skills; candidates with previous customer care experience are prioritized. Working Conditions: Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying cold and heat conditions. Pay: $16.00 Hourly
