- Struggling to job search in the digital age? Herkimer Working Solutions is hosting free computer training and certification classes from Northstar Digital Literacy. Learn basic computer skills, internet basics, career search skills, Microsoft Word and Excel and more. They have sessions every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. - Job Corps Information Session 9:00AM – 1:00PM every other Wednesday at the Herkimer County Working Solutions. Job Corps is a federally sponsored training program, offering training opportunities in Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, Automotive, and more, all free of charge. - Heavy Equipment Operation course at Madison-Oneida BOCES. The course will be May 19th – July 14th, Mondays – Thursdays 3:00PM – 8:00PM and Saturdays 7:00AM – 1:00PM with a tuition of $2,600. The focus of this course is hands-on experience with a dozer, loader, backhoe, skid steer excavator, and dump truck. Includes practical machinery care and daily maintenance. Student must provide suitable clothing for the operation of this machinery. Valid driver's license is required. First Aid/CPR and OSHA-10 included. - The Waterville Residential Care Center is offering a free CNA training! This is a great opportunity for high school students age 16+ or anyone within the community. It is a 3-week course consisting of a combination of online coursework and 5 in person skills/clinical days. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be scheduled to take the NYS Prometric CNA exam at Waterville Residential Care Center. They have new classes starting every week.
