• NYS Department of Corrections and Community Services will be hosting 3 upcoming recruitments at the Herkimer Career Center, 320 N Prospect St., Herkimer on 3/4, 3/24, and 4/15, all events running from 10:00AM–12:00PM. Anyone interested about learning more about the Corrections positions are encouraged to attend one of the recruitment sessions.
• New York State Park Police – The Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation is now accepting applications for State Park Police Officers across New York State. Selected candidates will attend the training academy in the Albany area (if invited) and, upon graduation, be assigned to a region anywhere in New York State. Applications and documentation are due by February 28, 2026! Am I Eligible? Candidates must be at least 20 years of age at the time of hire. Must not have passed your 43rd birthday by October 1, 2026. Military service (up to 6 years) may be deducted from age, if applicable. Education/Experience Requirements: Applicants must meet experience requirements by February 18, 2026 (if applicable) and education requirements by June 30, 2026 (if applicable). You qualify if you meet one of the following: 60 college semester credit hours, OR 2 years of active U.S. military service with an honorable discharge* 4 years of U.S. military reserve or National Guard service* 2 years full-time NYS Police Officer experience with valid NYS Municipal Police Training certification* Note: 30 college credits may substitute for one year of required experience; A high school diploma or equivalent is required. • Herkimer Working Solutions is hosting free computer training classes! Learn basic computer skills, internet basics, career search skills, Microsoft Word and Excel and more. • Mohawk Valley Build – MV Build is a paid 12-week training program for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades. The program runs from March 2 to May 22. It is held Monday – Thursday from 5:00PM – 8:30PM at the MVCC Construction and Trades Building, 335 Catherine St., Utica, NY. MV Build provides classroom and hands-on experience, a nationally recognized credential, and an opportunity to enter into a union apprenticeship upon completion of the program.
