Madison County and Vicinity Job Opportunities - September 19, 2023

CNC Lathe and CNC Mill operator positions:

Canastota N/C is looking to fill four full time CNC Lathe and CNC Mill operator positions for 1st and 2nd shift. Candidates that have CNC Lathe and/or Mill experience are preferred. We will also train candidates to operate the CNC Lathes and Mills. 1st shift hours are Monday thru Friday; 7:00am-3:30pm; Overtime may be required during the week or Saturdays. 2nd shift hours are Monday thru Friday; 3:30pm-2:00am; Overtime is included in the shift hours and may be reduced as required.

Pay range: $18.00-$30.00 per hour DOE.

Responsibilities: Must utilize precision measuring devices to perform inspections on the accuracy of their work and to adjust tooling offsets and replace tools when needed. Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Must understand enough basic math to verify job requirements and specifications. Load/ Unload parts from machine, wash, and carefully pack parts in box. Ensure layer counts in box are accurate.

Minimum Qualifications: High School or Equivalent is preferred. Two Years of Operating CNC Equipment is preferred. Previous experience with Mazak Mazatrol software is preferred. Applicants must possess mathematical and mechanical aptitude and the ability to multi-task. Ability to comprehend work instructions, and quality documents. Must be able to read and write English well enough to understand process instructions, work orders, and other paperwork. Must be able to lift 25 pounds waist high. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and withstand twisting and turning of your body.

Case Manager:

Madison County Office for the Aging is seeking a Case Manager. The selected candidate must possess knowledge of the characteristics, needs and interests of the aging.  The candidate must possess knowledge of community agencies, facilities and services which can be utilized to aid the elderly.  

Minimum qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in community organization or in the field of aging or an Associate degree with four years’ experience in community organization or in the field of aging or a High School Diploma with six years’ experience in community organization or in the field of aging. Computer skills necessary. Valid NYS driver’s license is required.

The selected candidate would work Monday thru Friday.  This is a 40 hour per week position. Pay is $40,500 annually. Benefit package includes health insurance, paid time off, and a 401k retirement plan.

Assistant Director of Children with Special Needs Program:

Madison County seeks a full time Assistant Director of Children with Special Needs Program in the Public Health Department responsible for overseeing the Madison County Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Information and Referral program by connecting with families and providing resources, information, making appropriate referrals and encouraging parent participation and advocacy. The incumbent completes reports, maintains documentation, coordinates outreach as well as coordinating transportation services for children participating in the Early Intervention and Pre K programs in Madison County. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Children with Special Needs Program with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment. Direct supervision is exercised over subordinate professional, paraprofessional and clerical staff. The incumbent performs related work as required.

Minimum qualifications: Either:

A. Possession of a Master’s Degree in Education, Public Administration, Health Services Management, Human Services or a related field, and one year of full time paid experience, or its part time equivalent, in human services administration, disability services or a related field; or

B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Public Administration, Health Services Management, Human Services

or a related field, and three years of full time paid experience, or its part time equivalent, in human services administration, disability services or a related field; or

C. An equivalent combination of training and experience, as defined by the limits of A and B above

Note: Degrees must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, the candidate must provide independent verification of equivalency. A list of acceptable companies who provide this service can be found on the internet at http://www.cs.ny.gov/jobseeker/degrees.cfm . Candidates will be required to pay the evaluation fee.

Pay is $58,363 2023 minimum starting salary; 37.5 hours/week.  This is a tested civil service position.

Summary: Accurate assembly of sub electro and mechanical components for builds into higher level assemblies, build higher level assemblies according to written instructions, drawings and visual aids that comply with standards with minimal to zero defects.

 * Duties include but not limited to: Reads and follows processes and performs work as assigned.  Cuts, strips, crimps, or otherwise assemble the materials to produce sub-assemblies.  Distinguishes colors and read small print in order to perform procedural process.  Learn and retain information, relating to standards and specifications through provided class room and on the job training.  Ability to evaluate any mechanical or material issues.  Place finished materials in designated areas.  Maintain a clean and safe work area.  Performs other related duties and assignments as required  All production workers are expected to be available to work in all area of production.

*Vision requirement 20/20 corrected, must be able to distinguish colors and must have steady hands and fine motor skills. 

 * Skills/Qualifications: High degree of manual dexterity in order to handle small objects.  Ability to interpret both verbal and written instructions.  Be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.  May require lifting of heavy materials i.e. spools of wire. Use of wire cutting tools, wire crimping tools, wire spools and other materials necessary to the production of cable assembly products.
