Job Overview:
This position is responsible for managing planning and community development related projects within MVEDD.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assume management responsibility for assigned projects, services and activities.
• Perform contract administration and negotiation functions; coordinate work with consultants.
• Assists with general marketing and visibility of the organization, builds and maintains key relationships and supports the Executive Director in identifying business and funding opportunities.
• This position reports directly to the Executive Director and does related work as required.
• Attend and participate in professional group meetings.
• Maintains the organization's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). Assists in new programming and policy development and implementation, including external partnerships.
• Creates the semi-annual performance progress reports on all EDA, NBRC and other state and federally funded grants as required.
• Further develops the comprehensive planning and assessment related programming within MVEDD.
• Fosters improved collection and use of industry data for strategic decisions and storytelling.
• Supports creation of financial reports and projects budgets as required.
• Contributes to short and long-term strategic planning and the identification of potential new
• funding opportunities.
• Assists with responding to grant proposals, with particular focus on state and federal proposals.
• Manages external grant funded projects, including reporting and ensuring all deliverables and timelines are met.
• Further develops planning related projects and programs, including expanding comprehensive planning services and assessments for municipalities.
Job Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• Master’s Degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s Degree (required) in planning, public policy, business or related field
• Five years of experience in economic development, planning, or related field
Communication Skills:
• Effective written and verbal communication skills include public speaking
• Ability to interpret instructional documents as they relate to NYSERDA programs
Mathematical Skills:
• Basic math functions such as add, subtract, divide, and multiply
Other Skills:
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Self-motivated, excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Highly organized, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
Work Hours:
• Position will include regional travel and evening meetings
Salary:
• $65,000 - $70,000
• Company paid health, vision and dental, retirement, and holidays
