Utica, NY –The Workforce Development Board’s NY SCION grant, is partnering with the Department of Labor and ACCES-VR, to present a Diverse Abilities Job Fair celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual recognition of the positive impact of people with disabilities in the American workforce.
The event will be held at Mohawk Valley Community College, Rome Campus, Plumley Complex Room 150; 1101 Floyd Ave, Rome, NY, Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 1-3pm
This valuable opportunity connects job seekers with disabilities with inclusive employers and gives them the chance to explore exciting local career opportunities, such as administrative assistant, security officer, warehouse worker, and call center specialist, and gives local employers the opportunity to tap into a diverse and often underrepresented labor pool. Employers present include like Chobani, Adirondack Bank, and CABVI. Hiring job seekers with disabilities could make their businesses eligible for tax incentives or On-the-Job Training funds.
The job fair will also offer a resume booth, where job seekers can get constructive feedback from Department of Labor employment professionals on existing resumes and guidance on how to create an impactful resume.
Job seekers will also have the opportunity to meet with disability service providers to learn about additional employment supports, “This will be a wonderful opportunity for jobseekers and employers alike to connect with service providers throughout the Utica-Rome area. We are thrilled to be hosting this event at Mohawk Valley Community College’s Rome Campus,” says Workforce Development Board Special Projects Director Mary Katherine A. Moylan.
