TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

  • Herkimer BOCES will be hosting English as a Second Language classes at The Frank J. Basloe Public Library every Monday and Wednesday, 3:30-5:30pm. They will also be hosting classes Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-5:30 at the Herkimer BOCES Remington Complex in the Adult Literacy Office. Classes are free and no appointment is necessary to attend, individuals do not have to attend every class in order to participate. If people are interested in learning more, they can contact Hanka Grabovica at 315-867-2085 or
  • Free Computer Training at Herkimer Working Solutions from Northstar Digital Literacy has been extended. These courses are perfect for people with very basic computer skills, struggling to job search in the digital age, or looking to learn more about Microsoft/Google programs! No appointment necessary! Learn Basic Computer Skills , Internet Basics,  Career Search Skills, Microsoft Word and Excel and more. Join Us at Herkimer Working Solutions for an Information Session! When? Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the Month Where? 320 N. Prospect St. Herkimer Time? 2pm Sessions will last approximately 1 hour. Attendees will get set up with a Northstar account and will be given an overview of the program, along with completion options.   • MV Tech Corps Training at MVCC. Get started on a career path in Mechatronics, Welding, Carpentry, Masonry, CNC Machining or HVAC. Earn a tech or trades certificate from MVCC in just eight months. Northstar Digital Literacy Program: Information Sessions at Herkimer Working Solutions

Northstar Digital Literacy is a program offered through the NYS Department of Labor to provide New Yorkers with access to quality instruction to thrive in the digital age.

Herkimer Working Solutions Career Center is holding information sessions on how to access and use the Northstar Digital Literacy program.

Our goal is to inform local individuals about the program, assist them with setting up an account, and teach them how to use the platform while guiding them through the lessons and making individuals aware of the services available at the career center.

Information sessions will be held at Herkimer Working Solutions (320 N. Prospect St. Herkimer) at 2pm every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. Walk-ins are welcome.

Sessions will last approximately 1 hour. Attendees will get set up with a Northstar account and will be given an overview of the program, along with completion options. Walk-ins welcome *Please bring photo ID for career center registration

All businesses and job seekers in the following counties are invited to register: Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego counties.

The job fair will take place Tuesday, January 30th, from 11am to 1pm.

There will also be staff available from our training grant programs to talk to job seekers about how our free grant programs can help job seekers get started in a satisfying and good paying career.
